Lithuanian Applause

(First written on June 4, 2012) Afternoon! I’d like to post the photos I took during the Globe to Globe festival, as well as the collage I just made out of everything I collected.

I can’t express how beautiful this multilingual experience has been – to have communities from all corners of the world gather up in this theatre under poring rain or sunshine. And for what? Shakespeare. One of the greatest story tellers.

Sunday 3rd June was the last day, and I had the pleasure to see Hamlet in Lithuanian with Gintaré. Hardly a word understood, but thanks to the strong and clear emotions portrayed by the actors, the story came across very smoothly. I am talking of a country I have never visited and a language I hardly recognise, and yet, yesterday, I felt slightly closer to them in a way I wouldn’t have imagined.

And that was what Globe to Globe was all about.
